Colour Tone: Soft violet with pink-magenta undertones
Description: A dreamy ceramic tone balancing lavender, orchid pink, and muted violet. The surface feels floral yet mineral, with soft molten transitions that resemble blooming pigments under transparent glaze. This colour sits beautifully between pastel purple and warm magenta.
Recommended Stain Percentage:
- Soft pastel lavender: 1–2%
- Dusty orchid tone: 3–4%
- Rich violet pink: 5–6%
- Saturated magenta-viole: 7–8%
- Intense electric orchid:9–10% (testing advised)
Intensity Behaviour:
At lower percentages:
- pale lilac
- dusty lavender
- faded orchid
At medium percentages:
- balanced violet-pink
- floral magenta
- soft neon lavender
At higher percentages:
- saturated orchid
- electric purple-pink
- deep synthetic violet
Best Firing Range: 1000–1300°C
Works Best when
- Mixed with slip
- Used as a wash
- Mixed in glaze
Cobalt-based blues are extremely strong colorants. Small percentage increases can shift the result significantly, especially in white stoneware or porcelain bodies.
